Gas Lyfter: mixing with gas, not motors

Mixing is one of the largest power consumers in a biogas plant, and submerged agitators are a frequent cause of breakdowns. The Gas Lyfter moves the tank content with large gas bubbles in a vertical column. Nothing rotates inside the tank.

01 How it works

Large bubbles lift the liquid

Gas is fed through a hose into an air chamber at the bottom of a vertical column. When the chamber is full, the gas escapes as one large bubble that rises through the column like a piston and pulls the liquid with it. Liquid flows in from below, the tank circulates.

The column is held upright by floats and anchored with a weight; only a hose connects it to the compressor outside the tank.

Details and design data are being confirmed with the manufacturer.

02 Benefits

Why gas mixing pays off

Very low mixing power

One compressor outside the tank instead of several agitators.

No clogging

No propeller that fibres, plastic or straw can wrap around.

Complete mixing

The whole tank circulates, fewer dead zones and floating layers.

Low OPEX, long life

No gearboxes or seals in the tank, almost no maintenance.
